Prof. Tomoyuki Furuyashiki
Kobe University

Tomoyuki Furuyashiki, M.D., Ph.D. is Professor and Chair in the Division of Pharmacology at Graduate School of Medicine, Kobe University, Japan. He obtained his Ph.D. degree in 2001 at Graduate School of Medicine, Kyoto University, Japan. He became an assistant professor there in 2003, and studied about roles of prostaglandins for stress-related behaviors with Dr. ShuhNarumiya. From 2004 to 2008, he studied about roles of rodent prefrontal cortex in behavioral control as an associate research scientist with Dr. Michela Gallagher at the Johns Hopkins University. Then he returned to Kyoto University and was promoted to an associate professor in 2012, and moved to his current position at Kobe University in 2014. His research interest is to elucidate biological mechanisms underlying stress-induced mental and physical changes and to translate the findings to understanding stress-related pathology in clinics and promoting therapeutic development for depression. |
